Karuna is a Sanskrit word and is used in Hinduism and Buddhism. It is translated to mean any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others and could also be described as “compassionate action.” Karuna Reiki is the motivating quality of all enlightened beings who are working to end suffering.
Beyond Usui - Karuna Reiki
Instructors: Marion Hakata and John Ruiz
Karuna Reiki was developed by William L. Rand, founder of the International Center for Reiki Training and is taught only to people who are Reiki Masters and is the next step once Usui Reiki is completed. Our philosophy is to honor and respect all Reiki students and teachers regardless of their lineage, organizational affiliation, or the kind of Reiki they practice. Marion Hakata and John Ruiz received their training from William Rand when he visited Sacramento in 2000.
The energy facilitates multi-dimensional healing. It builds upon, expands, and increases one's light attained in Usui Reiki to effect healing for the greatest good of humanity and the planet. You will meet the embodiment and spirit of compassionate action represented by Avalokiteshvara and the other Karuna healers.
The Two Levels of Karuna Reiki Training
Karuna is complete with 2 levels, 2 attunements,
8 treatment symbols. Those who take the Master training will also be attuned to 4 master symbols. The energy has a very definite feeling to it, like being wrapped in a warm and loving blanket of energy. Clients often sense that powerful, spiritual Reiki healers are actually physically facilitating their session. Karuna deeply grounds the spiritual energy into one's physical vehicle. A Karuna Reiki session noticeably facilitates healing on all levels at once, whereas a Usui Reiki session will gently facilitate healing on one level at a time.

Karuna Reiki Master training in Level I and II
In order to participate in this three day class the student must be an experienced Usui Reiki Master with at least 6 months experience as a practitioner and/or teacher. Students will receive an attunement to 4 symbols in Level I, 4 symbols in Level II, and 4 Karuna Master symbols. They will learn how to do training and attunements. Once all requirements are met, they will become a Registered Karuna Reiki Master for the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). Students will have a Karuna Reiki lineage that is traced back through Marion Hakata and John Ruiz who received their training from William Lee Rand, the originator of the Karuna Reiki training program.
